I have no signal via the communal aerial. I'm thinking OK let's go to BT vision, lousy service compared to el cheapo freeview box, but my partner is freaking out over no TV and into heavy withdrawal and I burnt the bread in the oven while trying to check all the connections so I try BT vision and same story no reception, can see TV guide but cannot see any programmes. Surely the engineering cannot affect all channels or cannit???

Richard waldron: From now until 28th March 2011 there is planned maintenance work taking place resulting in reduced power working and "off air" periods. The down side of using a loft aerial is not only is the signal usually weaker than it would be from an external aerial,it is more likely to be affected by the weather (frost, snow or rain on the roof) and being closer to wiring and electrical equipment in the house it is more likely to pick up any interference. The good news is after switchover the transmitter power will be 2kW on each mux, ten times its present level. Regarding UK Gold this is a pay tv channel available to viewers who subscribe to Top-up TV. Film4 is on MuxD, which along with MuxC is only 100W until switchover. The Digital UK postcode checker shows reception of these muxes could deteriorate in the period prior to switchover.
